Carer Gateway

20th April 2017

Developed specifically for carers, the new Carer Gateway will help carers access practical information and advice and connect with services in their local area.

As the first step in delivering the Integrated Plan for Carer Support Services, Carer Gateway will make it easier for carers to find the services that are right for them.

Up to now, carers have been searching for services through a number of often confusing pathways across the disability, community mental health and aged care sectors.

Carer Gateway includes a website, phone service and service finder to assist carers to locate their nearest support services.

Carers can visit carergateway.gov.au or call the professional, Australian based team on 1800 422 737 Monday to Friday 8am – 6pm.

Carer Gateway provides information about services and support available for people who care for someone with disability, chronic illness, dementia, mental illness or who are frail aged.

The Carer Gateway Advisory Group informed development of Carer Gateway. Membership includes service providers, peak bodies and individuals who have carer-specific expertise.

Consumer reasearch with over 1000 carers and people from disability and carer organisations also guided development of the new service.
